Sword Fights on the Heights IV SFOTH IV Patch Notes & Timeline
The updates that still shape classic Heights combat and map flow.
How to use this timeline
Classic Sword Fights on the Heights IV never published a modern patch CMS. What follows is a player-facing history assembled from the experience description, Roblox wiki notes, and community memory. Treat exact mid-month dates as approximate when sources disagree, and verify live behavior in-game after large Roblox platform changes.

2008 — Launch of Heights IV
After earlier SFOTH entries (Original / II / III) rotated through place history, Sword Fights on the Heights IV became the lasting Shedletsky sword arena in mid-2008 (June/July era depending on source). Place 47324 is the classic ID players still share.
What defined the launch fantasy:
- Floating islands and lethal voids
- Spawn Linked Sword
- Pedestal swords including Illumina, Darkheart, Venomshank, Ice Dagger, Firebrand, plus Ghostwalker and Windforce as IV additions versus earlier series entries
- Utility fantasy that later included Touchstone, spheres, Armor, Medkits, and Jet Boots
Uncopylocked early history encouraged remakes—another reason “SFOTH” names collide across Roblox.
2015–2016 — Jet Boots fade and Abyss
Mid-2010s platform shifts broke or retired several classic tools.
- Jet Boots: Hold-to-fly mobility with fuel limits. Community consensus treats them as removed ~2016 (later notes also mark them unobtainable by the 2020 era). Do not follow guides that still route Jet Boots as current.
- Abyss: Magenta portal side space with torch lighting and WoodReviewer-flavored “Review Me” presentation. Added mid-decade as an easter-egg destination rather than a primary arena.
- Comments disabled (2016) on the experience page in some timelines—social layer changes, not combat changes.
Map literacy shifted toward Illumina fly, Ghostwalker gravity, portals, and pads as the mobility stack. See Powerups and Map guide.
2020 — Quenty rewrite
May–June 2020 is the big modern maintenance era. Experience description lines (paraphrased from the live page history) credit a major code pass commonly associated with Quenty, with Shedletsky publicly thanking that work.
Highlighted changes from that burst:
- Updated code for swords and items
- Fixes for Windforce, Darkheart, and Ghostwalker
- Ghostwalker kill counting improvements
- New Touchstone effect presentation
- Battle Armor effect made more obvious
- New status bar and sound effects
- Swords from dead players no longer deal damage (important anti-jank rule)
- Jump pad fixes and mobile shop/UI bug fixes around the same weeks
- Broader “worst bugs” pass with ongoing polish calls
If a veteran says “play post-Quenty SFOTH,” they mean this repaired ruleset rather than ancient broken physics.
2021 — Trailer update
On January 18, 2021, the experience notes a new trailer by @ProfineRB. Not a systems overhaul—marketing and nostalgia packaging for a game that still relied on the 2020 code foundation.
September 2026 — Hunt-era updates (“SFOTH V”)
September 15–16, 2026 delivered the first meaningful place updates since the 2021 trailer—the first real burst in about four years. Community players jokingly nicknamed the window SFOTH V even though the place remained Heights IV. Excitement about any post-2021 change mixed with confusion about what had actually shipped for The Hunt: Roblox 20.
Sudden update window
Prep patches landed just before Hunt concurrency slammed classic 47324:
- September 15 builds already showed broken sword physics and item regeneration failures—utilities and pedestals failing to respawn cleanly under load.
- Server authority was enabled. Classic SFOTH movement and sword lunges were never designed around that authority model, so players immediately reported rubberbanding, jittery characters, floaty collisions, and fling lunges that yeeted fighters off pads.
- Community clips and wiki notes also tracked a boxed Shedletsky bot / NPC past Ice Dagger territory—an odd, limited-time curiosity rather than a permanent roster feature. Short-lived raidboss-style Telamon experiments in the same week did not stick as required Hunt objectives.
- September 16: an R15-only period plus the in-game shop disabled for Hunt prep.
- In the same window, players reported the long-standing Illumina glitch/behavior as fixed or meaningfully changed, while Shadow Sphere pickups behaved strangely (including claims of lasting invisibility). Re-test spheres and Illumina swaps live before trusting older clips.
- Extreme concurrency (tens of thousands at peaks) made lag the dominant story regardless of individual tech skill.
- September 20, 2026: experience notes set max players back to 20 because higher caps were “too laggy.”
Event objectives, badges, and UGC: Hunt event. Practical combat under unstable physics: Combat tips. Dedicated flight practice: Illumina fly. Button and sword collector route: Hunt Roblox 20.
What to re-test after Hunt patches
- Pedestal and utility respawns (Armor, Medkits, Touchstone, spheres).
- Illumina aerial lunges and double-Illumina swaps—do not assume 2020-era muscle memory still matches.
- Ghostwalker gravity and Darkheart life-steal timing under rubberband.
- Whether avatar type is still locked to R15 and whether the shop remains disabled.
- Server size on the live Roblox page.
Secret Hunt badge routing still reuses Abyss; do not confuse Abyss tourism with the four-sword collector path on the Hunt event page.
What did not change
Across all eras, the fantasy stayed recognizable:
- Eight classic swords with the same identities (Illumina fly, Ghostwalker scaling, Darkheart steal, Venom poison, Ice freeze, Firebrand anti-Ice, Windforce shove, Linked default)
- Locus under the Ring of Fire as the saferoom hub
- No redeem-codes loop—see Codes
Meta pages like the Swords tier list remain useful because the cast did not get replaced by a season pass roster.
Practical checklist after any new patch
- Confirm pedestals and Armor/Medkit/Touchstone spawn
- Test Illumina lunge-jump and Ghostwalker gravity
- Verify Ice Dagger arm delay and Firebrand immunity
- Check server size / avatar type restrictions on the Roblox page
- Skim this timeline plus Hunt event if an anniversary event is live

SFOTH IV’s patch story is short compared to modern Roblox live games—but each burst rewired how seriously you should take old YouTube advice.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
When did SFOTH IV release?
Mid-2008 as the lasting entry in Shedletsky’s Sword Fights on the Heights series (place 47324).
When were Jet Boots removed?
Around 2016 in community shorthand, with later notes confirming they were unobtainable heading into the 2020 era. They are not part of current classic pickups.
What did the 2020 Quenty update fix?
Sword/item code, Windforce/Darkheart/Ghostwalker issues, Touchstone presentation, Armor clarity, status bar/SFX, and dead-player sword damage—among other bug fixes.
Why did people call the September 2026 patch SFOTH V?
As a joke. September 15–16, 2026 was the first major place update since 2021, so players nicknamed the burst SFOTH V even though the experience remained Heights IV.
What broke when server authority was enabled?
Rubberbanding, fling lunges, jittery movement, and item regeneration bugs. Classic SFOTH physics did not play well with the new authority model under Hunt load.
Did September 2026 change the sword roster?
No new classic pedestal sword replaced Illumina or Darkheart. Changes were mostly platform/event constraints, physics jank, shop/R15 toggles, Illumina/sphere weirdness, and server-size tuning back to 20 on September 20.
